We wrap cars, trucks, and SUVs every day — but every now and then a project comes in that stops the whole shop. This was one of them. The Centerport Fire Department trusted us to wrap their bay doors in 3M matte red vinyl, and the transformation is something the whole community gets to see every day.

The Project: Four Bay Doors, Full Color Change
The existing doors were showing their age — faded, worn, and inconsistent in color across the bays. Rather than a costly repaint that would require shutting down operations for days and dealing with fumes inside an active firehouse, the department chose vinyl wrapping as the smarter solution. Faster, cleaner, and a result that looks better than paint on a large flat surface like this.
We used 3M matte red vinyl for the full install — every panel on every door, including the window trim surrounds. The matte finish was a deliberate choice: it gives the doors a bold, authoritative look without the glare of a gloss film, and it holds up exceptionally well on vertical exterior surfaces exposed to UV and weather.

Why Vinyl Wrap Over Paint for Commercial Doors?
It’s a question worth answering, because a lot of commercial clients don’t know wrapping is even an option for doors and buildings. Here’s why it made sense for the fire department — and why it makes sense for any commercial property owner:
- No downtime for curing. Paint requires hours of dry time and adequate ventilation. Vinyl goes on and the doors are operational immediately after install.
- Cleaner install. No masking the entire building, no overspray risk, no fumes inside an active facility.
- Consistent color across panels. Vinyl from a single roll guarantees color uniformity that’s nearly impossible to match across multiple cans of paint.
- Removable and replaceable. If a panel gets damaged, it can be replaced without touching the rest of the door. A painted door requires the whole surface to be repainted to match.
- Exterior-grade durability. 3M’s exterior vinyl films are engineered for exactly this kind of application — UV resistant, weatherproof, and built to last years on a vertical surface.

The Finished Result
The before and after here is dramatic. What were faded, mismatched doors are now bold, uniform, and exactly what you’d expect from a firehouse that takes pride in its station. The matte red pops against the brick facade and reads perfectly from the street. The Centerport community now has a firehouse that looks the part.
Commercial Vinyl Wrapping on Long Island
This project is a good example of what’s possible when you think beyond cars. Garage doors, storefronts, fleet vehicles, equipment — if it has a surface, it can be wrapped. If you have a commercial project in mind on Long Island, call us and we’ll talk through what makes sense.
