Not every project fits in the shop. This one was a 48-foot car hauler trailer belonging to a private vehicle collection — stripped of its old wrap and re-wrapped completely in 3M gloss white aluminum vinyl, on-site at the client’s property. It’s one of the largest single-surface vinyl installs we’ve done, and the before-and-after speaks for itself.
The Before: Full Strip of an Old Black Wrap
The trailer came in wearing a dated black wrap with checkered flag and flame graphics — the kind of look that was everywhere in the early custom trailer scene. The film was old, lifting in spots, and well past its service life. Before any new film goes on, the old wrap has to come completely off, the surface has to be cleaned, and the aluminum panels need to be prepped properly. On a 48-foot trailer, that’s a serious undertaking on its own.
We stripped the entire trailer down to bare aluminum, pressure washed and decontaminated every panel, and let it dry completely before touching a roll of new film. The prep work on a project this size is what separates a wrap that lasts from one that fails in a year.

The Install: 3M Gloss White Aluminum on 48 Feet of Surface
Once the trailer was clean and prepped, we laid in 3M gloss white panel by panel across the full length of both sides. Working on a trailer this size outdoors requires a different approach than a shop install — managing film tension across large panels, accounting for rivets and seams running the full length of the trailer, and keeping the surface clean and tack-free as you work. Every panel has to be handled carefully to avoid lifting at the seams where the aluminum corrugation meets the film edge.
The finished result is clean, uniform, and exactly what a private collection car hauler should look like — understated, professional, and sharp.

Trailers, fleet vehicles, commercial equipment, buildings — large format vinyl installs are a different discipline than wrapping a car, and most shops won’t take them on. We do. If you have a large surface project on Long Island and need someone who can handle the scale, call us.
